Pune, Maharashtra: As tomato prices continue to rise across the country, a farmer in Pune district has hit the jackpot. Tukaram Bhagoji Gayakar and his family have made a whopping ₹1.5 crore by selling an astonishing 13,000 tomato crates in just one month.
Tukaram, with the help of his son Ishwar Gayakar and daughter-in-law Sonall, cultivates tomatoes on 12 out of his 18 acres of agricultural land. They take pride in growing high-quality tomatoes and use their knowledge of fertilizers and pesticides to protect their crops from pests.
The family’s success story reached new heights when Tukaram earned ₹2,100 in a single day by selling just one tomato crate in Narayanganj. On Friday alone, Gayakar sold an incredible 900 crates, resulting in earnings of ₹18 lakh.
