On Saturday, Air India unveiled its new “FogCare” programme, which will take care of unforeseen events like flight delays and cancellations brought on by wintertime dense fog.
The first phase of this project will involve flights coming and going from Delhi’s IGI Airport.
In order to lessen the impact of fog on flight operations, which normally occurs in the mornings and nights but can potentially cascade throughout the day, Air India will implement preventative measures as part of FogCare.
Customers who have disrupted flights will be informed and given easy choices to reschedule or cancel them at no additional cost.
If they opt not to go to the airport, passengers on impacted flights can avoid the annoyance of long waits.
Additionally, this will aid in lessening airport traffic. Emails, calls, and SMS messages with flight-specific advisories will be sent to passengers on disrupted flights, giving them quick ways to lessen the annoyance of delays brought on by fog.
“We are thrilled to launch the FogCare project, a customer-centric effort to provide the greatest experience for our customers,” said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer and Global Head of Airport Operations for Air India. This will greatly enhance the passenger experience on days with heavy fog and is another milestone on our path to becoming a top-tier airline.
“We’ll work hard to provide customers with the most recent information on whether fog has affected their flight so they can make the best decision possible. By proactively addressing the issue, we will be able to maintain the overall network schedule integrity as best as we can and provide a better experience to all passengers, especially those on flights departing from Delhi that were not affected by the fog, who would have otherwise experienced the cascading effects of rolling fog delays “Dogra continued.
Additionally, the airline is ensuring that it has an enough number of aircraft, pilots, mechanics, and cabin personnel on standby to manage any situations that may arise due to the fog.
With a highly qualified cockpit crew, a CAT-III Instrument Landing System (ILS), and the capacity to operate in low visibility conditions, Air India is equipped to minimise the interruption caused by fog.
A campaign to promote the programme will also be started, along with a specific FogCare web page on www.airindia.com.
On this page, travellers can find more details, including comprehensive FAQs, real-time flight status updates, and assistance with rescheduling and refunds.
